今年4月宣布將在確保個人隱私不受影響前提下，藉由手機內的藍牙交互連接數據勾勒新型冠狀病毒感染途徑後，蘋果與Google表示對應此項技術的API內容，將從即日起開放公共衛生組織單位使用，使其針對新型冠狀病毒防疫需求打造的app都能接入使用，並且能快速確認當下是否處於高度感染風險地區。
雖然先前有不少app內容試圖藉由存取GPS位置等數據，藉此比對新型冠狀病毒感染者曾行經地點，藉此勾勒病毒感染途徑與再次感染高風險地點，但受限於蘋果在iOS裝置，以及Google針對Android裝置的數據隱私防護原則，因此多少在app開發設計過程面臨侷限。
而今年4月宣布合作，將藉由藍牙通訊時所產生交互連結數據比對結果，藉此確認感染病毒患者曾經行經地點，並且比對眾多使用者手機彼此之間可能交互連結數據，藉此分析過去發生群聚熱點，進而判斷哪些地點可能具有高度再感染風險。
依照Google與蘋果方面說明，此次釋出的API內容，將可讓app確認使用者當下所在位置是否處於高度感染風險地點，並且能以自動通知形式提醒使用者留意。
同時，Google與蘋果也再次強調此項API內容並未涉及任何個人隱私安全問題，在先前聲明中也強調並不會記錄使用者個人隱私內容，僅以藍牙交互連接數據比對群聚與行經路線交集情況，其中並不會記錄使用者個人電話、姓名等隱私數據。
