依照微軟Windows暨裝置事業群副總裁Yusuf Mehdi於Twitter分享消息，表示目前全球地區的Windows 10安裝使用人數已經累積超過9億。
相比今年3月公布數據，微軟在過去近半年時間內累積成長約1億名Windows 10使用人數，不少因素有可能與舊版Windows作業系統已達技術支援年限，同時近年來也有不少Windows PC產品銷售有關，同時也因為微軟持續透過各種方式呼籲消費者盡可能升級到新版Windows 10，甚至簡化消費者安裝Windows 10的困難度，藉此吸引更多人使用，使得Windows 10使用人數得以增長。
而依照這個速度來看，預期微軟將可在2020年迎接Windows 10使用人數衝破10億的里程碑，藉此達成2015年時預告將讓Windows 10使用人數超過10億的目標。
雖然比起當年預告設定時間晚了一些，但以Windows 10使用人數成長速度來看，其實也成為微軟有史以來使用人數規模成長最快的作業系統，同時也成為目前使用人數眾多的作業系統之一，甚至衍生建立的市場生態鏈更是牽動龐大經濟規模。
